Community Outreach

The American Chemical Society’s community outreach programs enable volunteers and enthusiasts to become more involved in an ACS local section, division(s), and/or community by providing reliable resources that can be easily used for promoting interest in chemistry and science to children and young adults. Participation in community activities provides opportunities for ACS members and interested individuals to increase media and public awareness of the importance of chemistry in our daily lives.

Salutes to Excellence

ACS created the Salutes to Excellence program in 2000 as a way to recognize a practitioner, a product, or a place of importance for achievements in chemistry and for the positive impact of chemistry on every day life. Honorees receive a commemorative plaque provided by the ACS Office of Community Activities.
