ACS Petroleum Research Fund

The Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) is an endowed fund, managed by the American Chemical Society that supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or fossil fuels at nonprofit institutions (generally colleges and universities) in the United States and other countries.

Vision

“The ACS Petroleum Research Fund will support innovative fundamental research, advanced scientific education, and the careers of scientists, to aid in significantly increasing the world’s energy options.”

Since the first ACS PRF grants were approved in 1954, several grant programs have evolved to serve segments of the scientific community.

A Change to the Scope of the Fund
Proposals will no longer be considered in solar power, which includes photovoltaics and solar cells. See list of Research Topics supported and not supported by ACS PRF.
