The Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) is an endowed fund, managed by the American Chemical Society that supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or alternate energy at nonprofit institutions (generally colleges and universities) in the United States and other countries.
Due to uncertainties in the financial markets, we cannot make definite plans regarding grant funding for 2011 at this time. However, we anticipate accepting only DNI and UNI proposals for consideration at the Spring 2011 ACS PRF Advisory Board meeting, and the submission window for these proposals will open mid-October 2010. We further anticipate accepting proposals for all four research grant programs (i.e., ND, UR, DNI, and UNI) for consideration at the Fall 2011 ACS PRF Advisory Board meeting. The submission window for these proposals will open mid-February 2011.
“The ACS Petroleum Research Fund will support innovative fundamental research, advanced scientific education, and the careers of scientists, to aid in significantly increasing the world’s energy options.”
Since the first ACS PRF grants were approved in 1954, several grant programs have evolved to serve segments of the scientific community.
