ACS and Other Awards

• National Science Foundation/Society of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology: Pan-American Advanced Studies Institutes (PASI) Award
  Applications due March 12
  Recognizing outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, this award will bring together a Pan American team of scientists to define and address air quality issues in and near mega-cities and chemical exchange with adjacent expansive agro-ecosystems.
• New Opportunities AAC&U: The K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award
  Recognizes graduate students who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education; who demonstrate a commitment to developing academic and civic responsibility in themselves and others; and whose work reflects a strong emphasis on teaching and learning.
• ACS Division of Cellulose & Renewable Material: The Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Cellulose or Renewable Materials Research
  Award consists of a check for $2,000, up to $500 for ACS Spring national meeting travel expenses, and an individual plaque honoring the recipient's accomplishment.
• ACS Division of Colloid & Surface Chemistry: Victor K. LaMer Award for Graduate Research in Colloid & Surface Chemistry
  Recognizes an outstanding Ph.D. thesis accepted by a US or Canadian university during the three year period prior to the award year.
• AkzoNobel Award for Outstanding Graduate Research in Polymer Chemistry
  Recognizes a graduate student or recent graduate who has completed an outstanding Ph.D. thesis in research related to Polymer Chemistry in US or Canada. Nominees will be judged on the basis of their contribution to about the award and during the award presentation.
• ACS Division of Agricultural & Food Chemistry: Roy Teranishi Graduate Fellowship
  To recognize and encourage outstanding contributions to pure and/or applied agricultural and food chemistry.
• ACS Division of Organic Chemistry: Technical Achievements in Organic Chemistry
  Recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of organic chemistry from Bachelor's and Master's level chemists, or their equivalents, pursuing careers in chemical industry at research institutes.
• International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Prize for Young Chemists
  The IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists will be given for the most outstanding Ph.D. theses in the general area of the chemical sciences, as described in a 1000-word essay.
