I got the opportunity to see projects through from conception to synthesis to classification and I was able to have an active part in all steps. I feel like this experience provided me with a good idea of what is involved in an industrial chemistry career, and I definitely want to be a part of it!” —Jennifer Harmon, SCI Scholar
Exceptional sophomores and juniors majoring in chemistry and chemical engineering can apply for a prestigious 10-week internship through the SCI Scholars Program. SCI Scholars are selected based on the strength of their application, statement of interest in an industrial internship, and letters of recommendation. Over thirty scholars will be chosen for internship positions in the summer of 2013.
The Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), America International Group (AIG), American Chemical Society (ACS), and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) developed this summer internship program to introduce chemistry and chemical engineering students to careers in the chemical industry.
Included in the internship program:
SCI America International Group, launched in 1884, is part of the Society of Chemical Industry’s international organization. Its main objective is to promote the application of science for the benefit of society. SCI is dedicated to promoting fellowship, celebrating achievement, promoting public awareness of the contributions of industrial chemistry, and inspiring students to enter technical careers.
