The ACS Education Division focuses on four major initiatives to help foster the development of the most innovative, relevant, and effective chemistry education in the world.
Pre-Service High School Teacher Programs
- Enhances pre-service education at colleges and universities by providing scholarships for students, funding for course reform, and support for field experiences and faculty professional development to improve the quality of chemistry teaching.

Teacher-to-Teacher Workshops
- Offers workshops designed to train master teachers to deliver chemistry content related to elementary and middle school curricula, targeted to teachers without science backgrounds.
Topical Content Modules
- Develops short online chemistry modules and lesson plans to enhance the content knowledge of any educator free of charge.
Teacher Research Experiences
- Provides paid opportunities for high school chemistry teachers to work in industrial or academic laboratories for 8-10 weeks during the summer to incorporate research into their curricula.
