The American Chemical Society (ACS) Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors in December 2008 to recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society.
The nomination window for 2013 Fellows closed on April 22. Thank you to all who participated in the nomination process this year. The list of selected Fellows is schedule to be published in late July.
Nominations for the next class of Fellows will open in the first quarter of 2014.
Please refer to the for full eligibility criteria.
Nominators
Nominators must be current members in good standing with the American Chemical Society. Current members of the Fellows Selection Committee, Fellows Oversight Committee, ACS Board of Directors, and ACS staff are not eligible to be nominators.
Nominees
Nominees for ACS Fellow must be current members in good standing with the American Chemical Society. Former members or deceased members will not be considered as nominees for ACS Fellows. However, if a member dies after his/her nomination is submitted and that candidate is selected, he/she will be granted the Fellows designation posthumously. Current members of the Fellows Selection Committee, Fellows Oversight Committee, ACS Board of Directors, and ACS staff are not eligible to be nominees.
The selection of ACS Fellows is based on documented excellence and leadership in BOTH of two areas: (1) science, the profession, education, and/or management, AND (2) volunteer service in the ACS community. Nomination documents must document evidence of exceptional accomplishments, professional attainment, and impact in both of the two areas:
Fellows are selected by a broadly representative Selection Committee appointed by the ACS Board Committee on Grants & Awards, which has governance oversight for the program.
A member who is nominated and not selected may be re-nominated in subsequent years by the same or different nominators. Nominations are not carried over from year to year.
Members retain the designation as an ACS Fellow, ACSF, for life.
The names of the ACS Fellows selected each year are published in Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN).
