All published preprints are evaluated on the basis of content with emphasis on originality and development of new concepts and on the quality of the presentation.
Purpose
Recognizes and encourages sustained cooperative research between industrial and academic or industrial and national laboratory scientists.
Eligibility
Must have a documented record of sustained, intensive cooperative and collaborative research across the university-industry or national laboratory-industry interface, research must be of significant importance to polymer science and technology.

Recognizes outstanding contributions and service to PMSE.
Eligibility
Must be a long-standing PMSE member and must have made significant and sustaining contributions to PMSE.

Recognizes outstanding individual achievements and note-worthy contributions to coatings science, technology, and engineering.

Purpose
Honors a small percentage of PMSE members who have made significant contributions to the science and engineering of polymeric materials.

PMSE member in good standing for at least 5 years.
Purpose
Provides partial travel support to graduate student women or under-represented minority men (Black, Hispanic, or Native American) to attend and present their research at ACS national meetings.
Eligibility
Women or under-represented minority men (Black, Hispanic, or Native American) graduate students performing research in fields related to polymer science and engineering, US citizens or permanent residents, fulltime graduate students at the time of application, concurrent PMSE preprint submission.
Purpose
Recognizes outstanding graduate students of applied polymer science.
Eligibility
Graduate students—either currently in graduate school or not more than 1 year beyond graduation—are invited to submit a research paper for presentation.
Purpose
Recognizes a recent Ph.D. graduate who has completed the most outstanding thesis in the design, synthesis, and physical chemistry of polymers.
Eligibility
Will be judged on contribution to the thesis research, the quality and level of innovation demonstrated, and the impact of the research on the science of synthetic polymers or biopolymers, advisor recognized in all publications about the award and during the award presentation, nominations must be made by the thesis supervisor or others familiar with the nominee's work.
