Through the initiative, Equipping the 2015 Chemical Technology Workforce, ACS offers $500 mini grants to help collaborative activities among industry, academia, and the community that are focused on the education and professional development of chemical technicians. Since 2007, 23 grants have been awarded.

To help technicians meet the changes and challenges ahead, the Committee on Technician Affairs (CTA), the Division of Chemical Technicians (TECH), the Committee on Economic and Professional Affairs (CEPA), and ChemTechLinks began collaborating on Equipping the 2015 Chemical Technology Workforce in 2006.
The initiative officially kicked off on September 12, 2006, with a Presidential Event at the 232nd ACS National Meeting in San Francisco. The Event was sponsored by TECH and co-sponsored by:

To keep the initiative moving forward, the Equipping the 2015 Chemical Technology Workforce task force began awarding mini-grants in Spring 2007 to help support collaborative activities focused on technician education and professional development. The mini-grant program continues to this day.
