The ACS International Chemical Sciences Chapter in Hungary is the newest ICSC and was founded in 2002 by ACS members living and working in Hungary.
The ICSC in Hungary has hosted ACS members as speakers in Hungary, including Attila Pavlath, ACS Past President and recent inductee into the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
In August 2006, the chapter hosted a reception at the 1st European Chemistry Congress. Attendees included the presidents of ACS International Sister Societies in Europe, as well as the Nobel Laureates and other eminent scientists in attendance at the conference. ACS Past President Ann Nalley gave remarks at the event.
The chapter also works in collaboration with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences to put together the annual “Day of Chemistry,” involving informative lectures and the presentation of an “Enabling Chemistry Award,” whose recipient is selected by an expert panel chosen by the chapter.
