The second ACS International Chemical Sciences Chapter began operations on January 1, 1997, in Hong Kong.
This chapter has sponsored a series of important regional meetings, including the 8th International Symposium on Applied Bioinorganic Chemistry, held in April 2004, and the 15th International Symposium on Photochemistry and Photophysics of Coordination Compounds, held in July 2004.
The chapter also sponsors prizes for best posters or oral presentations at the annual Hong Kong Symposium on Chemistry Postgraduate Research. This symposium has attracted such keynote speakers as Peter Stang of the University of Utah and editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
