Skill Standards for Chemical Technicians
ACS maintains a database of skill standards for chemical technicians, operators, and analysts. The skill standards were developed using input from more than 1,000 chemical professionals and cover most sectors of the chemical enterprise.

Who can use the database?
- Students and Technicians
Students and working technicians may use the database to view the complete sets of skill standards for laboratory technicians, process technicians, and laboratory analysts in pharmaceutical manufacturing. If an institution has set up an assessment, students and technicians can complete the assessment.
- Educators
Educators can use the database to view skill standards sets, customize sets to meet their needs, create assessment tools, and perform a gap analysis that compares educational outcomes to the needs of industry partners.
- Supervisors and Managers
Employers and managers of technicians can use the database to customize a skill standards set, create assessment tools and job profiles, and communicate their needs with their academic partners.
