C&EN

Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN), the newsmagazine of the chemical world, is a weekly publication free to all ACS members. For more than 85 years, C&EN reporters have covered the globe reporting on all important developments in science & technology, business & industry, government and education. C&EN publishes special in-depth issues throughout the year that report on timely developments in all major fields including pharmaceuticals, drug development, biotechnology, green chemistry, fine chemicals & intermediates, drug discovery, nanotechnology, life sciences, and many other important discipline areas.

Free Subscription Included with Membership

In addition to receiving 51 free issues of C&EN, ACS members have full access to C&EN Online. C&EN Online gives member access to Latest News updates, all of the content published in the weekly print edition, special online only features, a searchable library of past issues dating back to 1998, access to primary and secondary source documents, and access to C&EN’s special Nanofocus Web site with articles and information on nanotechnology.

C&EN Electronic Delivery

Starting in 2009, ACS members can choose to receive C&EN in an electronic format in lieu of their weekly print copy. C&EN electronic delivery provides members with immediate access to the magazine through their e-mail and provides unique features such as live links to the Internet and the ability to archive digital copies.

Your Web edition subscription provides you with online access to 14 volumes of published research from 1996 forward.

Features available via the Web editions include:

  • the ability to better sort, filter, save your results, or even create an RSS feed of your select criteria.
  • abstracts, full-text HTML, and full-text PDF views of the articles providing readers with new functionality to better understand and more quickly review the published research.
  • article-level features including the ability to flip through all images within an article without leaving the article page, interactive display of references, listings of forward citations, and quick access to lists of research published by any of the article's authors within the full portfolio of ACS journals.

Member Subscription Rates

All subscription terms are for 12 months. A Web edition subscription includes all material published in a journal from 1996 forward.

ACS Books is the publisher of the prestigious and long-standing ACS Symposium Series, alongside other valuable references such as the ACS Style Guide, Reagents Chemicals, and Cannon’s Pharmacology for Chemists.

ACS Symposium Series

The goal for the ACS Symposium Series is to provide an official publishing outlet for the content of the symposia at ACS national meetings (subject to a level of peer review and technical editing consistent with that of ACS journals) for the core chemical community and the interfaces with materials, physics, biology, and medicine. The ACS Symposium Series provides cutting-edge research results in a review type format.

Member Discounts

ACS Publications works alongside its print publishing partner, Oxford University Press (OUP), to provide ACS members a discount on the purchase of print books.

  • ACS members have the exclusive opportunity to purchase ACS Symposium Series volumes at a 30% discount when they purchase books online at Oxford University Press.
  • ACS members who publish books in the ACS Symposium Series through their ACS division, as an editor or contributor, have the exclusive opportunity to purchase ACS and OUP books at a discount of 40%.
  • ACS and OUP also extend a 40% discount on all orders placed by division members for their division-sponsored books at every ACS national meeting.
