Internship Description

This internship position supports the Product Development Group of the Wood Protection business.

The selected SCI Scholar will support R&D project work under the direction of Senior Scientists. Duties include but are not limited to general laboratory bench work, sample analysis, physical property testing (viscosity, flashpoint, corrosion), product formulation, and operation of advanced analytical equipment (Spectrometer, Titrator, Particle Size Analyzer). Candidate must be comfortable with and capable of working in a pilot plant environment, mixing large volumes of chemical, handling wood products and operating  pressure treatment cylinders, wood working equipment.

In addition, the candidate may perform laboratory and field testing of wood products, and assist with commercial scale-up of new products. The candidate will be required to maintain detailed records of experiments and summarize results in notebooks and reports, follow good laboratory practices and adhere to EH&S policies and procedures.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Current sophomores or juniors
  • U.S. citizen or permanent residents
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
