Chemists Celebrate Earth Day 2010: “Plants – The Green Machines"
9 Ways for Companies to Participate

- Send an email to all employees recognizing Chemists Celebrate Earth Day (CCED) and its theme “Plants – The Green Machines" on April 22, 2010, or every day of the week of April 22.
- Add the CCED logo and the following tagline to your company’s website, or any advertising campaigns: "Our company is proud to join the American Chemical Society in celebrating Chemists Celebrate Earth Day, April 22, 2010. Visit http://www.acs.org/earthday to find out more."
- Host an open house at your plant or location so the public may learn more about what you do.
- Sponsor a membership in the American Chemical Society (ACS) and a subscription to the Journal of Chemical Education for one or more high school teachers in your community.
- Sponsor a group of employees to conduct hands-on chemistry demonstrations in area schools or other venues. Sponsorship could include paid leave for the time spent on the activity, demonstration supplies, and/or use of company facilities.
- Ask your company’s communications office to help the nearest ACS local section to promote their CCED activities to local media.
- Ask your company’s communications office to write an Op-Ed article about CCED for publication in a local newspaper.
- Conduct a company-wide contest to create a clever haiku related to the CCED theme.
- Take part in a community service project to speak with the public about ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Or, hold your own outreach event about various other ways people can help to keep the atmosphere in great condition for future generations.
