Sponsor: The Procter & Gamble Co.

Purpose: To recognize and encourage outstanding scientific contributions to colloid and/or surface chemistry in North America.

Nature: The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate. Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed.

Eligibility: The nominee must be a resident of North America and must have made outstanding scientific contributions to colloid and/or surface chemistry. Recognition will also be given to originality and independence of thought, and to the technological impact of the nominee's contribution.

Deadline: November 1 (annual review).

Establishment & Support: The Procter & Gamble Co. assumed sponsorship in 1994. The ACS Award in Colloid and Surface Chemistry was established in 1952 and supported until 1993 by the Kendall Co.
