In 2009, ACS partnered with Bayer to provide ACS member participation in the Bayer Facts of Science Education Survey. The survey was aimed at gathering participants’ experiences and opinions about women and underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM education and careers.
ACS participated in the fall 2009 Mini-Symposium of Women of Color in STEM by sponsoring the symposium reception and the participation of eight delegates, including a symposium speaker. This event aimed to share experiential knowledge and/or current evidence-based findings about women of color in STEM with the Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering and the general STEM community; and to provide comments and suggestions about how the recruitment, retention, and understanding about the experiences of women of color may be improved through research, practice, policy, and evaluation.

Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students
ABRCMS is the largest, professional conference for biomedical and behavior students, including mathematics, attracting approximately 2,800 individuals, including 1,500 undergraduate students, 300 graduate students and postdoctoral scientists and 1,000 faculty and administrators.
