What’s included?

  • Student Questions can be used as a homework assignment, to help focus students’ attention as they read the article, or as an evaluation method for student comprehension. Answers to Student Questions are also provided.
  • Background Information gives teachers extended information. This section digs a little deeper into specific topics mentioned in the article and gives teacher more ammunition for class discussion.
  • Connections to Chemistry Concepts shows where topics in the article fit into a high school chemistry course. This section ties topics in the article to specific chemistry concepts and gives teachers connections to and applications for chemistry concepts they already teach.
  • Possible Student Misconceptions provides teachers with ideas about errors in how students conceptualize topics that can be addressed and corrected.
  • Demonstrations and Lessons provides classroom activities related to the article. These range from simple, short demonstrations to entire lessons or hands-on experiments.
