ACS is an advocate for science, serving as a neutral and credible source of scientific information for members of Congress and their staff.
ACS’s Science & the Congress Project conducts a series of congressional briefings, bringing in panels of experts from academia, industry, various levels of government, and other sectors to educate and inform Members of Congress and their staffs about the science behind many important public policy issues.
ACS fosters the participation of its members in the legislative process by promoting ACS member activities on the Hill in which members meet with their elected officials to discuss key science policy issues under consideration by Congress.
ACS works to promote the importance of National Chemistry Week through activities on the Hill.
ACS runs a public policy fellowship program, offering an opportunity for ACS members to gain practical experience and insights into public policy by working on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Fellow or at ACS in Washington, DC as a Science Policy fellow.
