Have you been away from organic chemistry for a while and need a review of the basics? This course will renew your knowledge of the basics of organic chemistry by reviewing nomenclature, oxidation reduction, typical reactions of functional groups from a mechanistic perspective, stereochemistry, and medicinal chemistry.
This course will meet online for 5 webcast sessions of 90 minutes each.

Lindy Harrison is Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry (retired) at York College of Pennsylvania where she teaches organic chemistry and the capstone Physical Sciences Seminar, a course for learning effective technical writing and other "tools of the trade."
Technical professionals who wish to enhance their success by renewing their knowledge of the basics of organic chemistry. It is ideal for individuals who have been away from organic chemistry for awhile and need to sharpen their memory of the basics prior to taking higher-level ACS courses related to organic synthesis, drug design, or spectroscopy.
You need a high-speed Internet connection and an up-to-date version of your web browser (Internet Explorer is preferred). For the audio portion of the live session, we will use a telephone conference call for attendees from the US and Canada. You will need a phone near your computer capable of making long distance phone calls to a 1-800 number. A hands-free or speaker phone is highly recommended.
