Governance Review Task Force Report
A Governance review Task Force established by the Board of Directors and the Council Policy Committee completed its review of the Society’s governance, and Constitution and Bylaws. This unprecedented collection of ACS members, governance and staff worked for over two years towards improving ACS governance structures, policies and procedures. Details of the Task Force participants, processes and final recommendations are now available.
"The SOCIETY shall be composed of members who in turn may be members of its Divisions and/or its Local Sections. It shall have a Council which, in addition to such duties as may be prescribed in this Constitution and the Bylaws of the SOCIETY, shall act as an advisory body; a Board of Directors, which shall be the legal representative of the SOCIETY and establish its administrative policies; committees both of the Council and of the Board; and such officers and employees as are necessary to effectuate its purposes." ACS Committee Summit Report
Fifteen ACS committee leaders and key staff convened in Baltimore July 6-8, 2007, to examine the charges of ACS committees, eliminate undesirable duplication of efforts and, where committees’ interests converge, to propose means to link their efforts for more productive outcomes.
