The American Chemical Society is committed to developing the next generation of chemistry leaders. ACS encourages the chemistry community to help improve their world with the following four programs.
Celebrating its 40th Anniversary, Project SEED offers economically disadvantaged high school students rare paid summer internships in research labs working with scientist mentors. Project SEED alumni are Ph.D. scientists, process engineers, chemistry teachers, chemical engineers, and chemical industry executives.
The ACS Scholars Program encourages underrepresented minority undergraduates to pursue degrees and careers in the chemical sciences. ACS Scholars Alumni are employed by some of the world’s finest companies including Merck, DuPont and Procter & Gamble.
ACS Green Chemistry Education and Outreach programs address ways that chemistry can contribute to a more sustainable environment. These programs support academic, government and industry sectors in developing and implementing sustainable science and technology. As a key stakeholder with EPA in the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards program, ACS has recognized 62 companies, small businesses and academic researchers for their outstanding green technologies.
Teacher Professional Development provides teachers with content knowledge and methodologies to excite young people about science. ACS offers training for teachers who are interested in learning effective uses of ACS curricula and related materials in their K-12 classrooms. Your support will help us meet the increasing demand for these dynamic workshops.
